Search Engine Optimization

Google stamp 128 Search Engine Optimization PictureIn a Cornell University eye tracking study for Google, it was discovered that the first five listings in a search engine query captures 88% of web traffic.  Most search engines will display a maximum of ten listings per query, which means if you happen to be the eleventh listing there’s a 0% chance of visibility. This reality has given way to a marketing strategy called Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  SEO is the practice of improving website visibility in search engines via “organic” or un-paid search results.

Historically, SEO played a big role in generating website traffic. However, marketers are finding that an integrated marketing initiative between Social Media Marketing and SEO is most effective. This is largely because people can now ask their friends or complete strangers for recommendations on virtually anything, and get human-filtered results within minutes through Facebook, Twitter, or other social networking sites. Internet users are also becoming more savvy and can cut through search results to find the best content.

Even in cases where search engines still send significant traffic to a site, search engines are becoming so much more intelligent that it’s getting harder and harder to get good placement unless you’re providing the best content. That’s why at Noodle Wave Media we work tirelessly to find the right balance between SEO and content development in order creating marketing campaigns that make a splash!
